The LG 55LH85 55-Inch 1080p 120Hz Wireless HDMI LCD HDTV is part of LG’s LH85 series of LCD TV models. The wireless HDMI feature of the LG 55LH85 allows for High Definition 1080p picture to be transmitted to your TV without any wires; this requires the wireless Media Box. All wired connections go straight to the media box and the LG 55LH85 will receive and display an uncompressed transmission; the only cable that runs from the LG 55LH85-55 is its power supply cord. This can be advantageous for users who have a lot of electronic equipment; they need setup with the TV but would like to keep the ghastly cables hidden.

The LG 55LH85 55-Inch 1080p 120Hz Wireless HDMI LCD HDTV, will let you see sharper details over its 1920 x 1080 resolution in a way like never before; Watching a Blu-ray disc on this particular model is really satisfying. It has an 80,000:1 contrast ratio – the ratio between dark blacks and the bright whites shown on the screen, display with a 120 Hz refresh rate which allows you to experience improved picture clarity particularly in dark lit scenes. The refresh rate may be lower than previous models developed by LG, but the quick LCD pixel response time (2.7ms) to color changes in the picture, coupled with LG’s proprietary IPS panels, does well to eliminate most of the motion blur and improve picture quality from all angles of viewing.

The LG 55LH85 55-Inch 1080p 120Hz Wireless HDMI LCD HDTV has several ingenious features but the most striking of all is its ability to automatically optimize picture quality based on the lighting and color conditions in the room where it is used. This culminates into the most enjoyable viewing experience you could possibly experience with a 1080p capable TV. Conversely, this feature gives users the freedom to place their new set virtually anywhere and still gain from its full HD (1920 x 1080) picture resolution from almost any viewing perspective. The picture wizard of the LG 55LH85 55-Inch 1080p 120Hz Wireless HDMI LCD HDTV makes self-calibration easy with screen reference points shown on the display, for key picture quality elements such as tint, color, black level, and the usual backlight and sharpness levels. Another feature of this particular model allows you to easily connect external USB devices to view JPEG photos, listen to MP3 files, and view other stored media in your USB device.

Energy saving is an integral part of the LG 55LH85 55-Inch 1080p 120Hz Wireless HDMI LCD HDTV which allows it to earn its Energy Star 3.0 rating. The intelligent sensor technology of this latest home electronics product by LG dims the backlight when and as lighting conditions in the room reduce; it allows the unit to maintain its low energy consumption foot print.

Going to the big box to look for your first new HDTV is fun but it will quickly become a little complicated for someone who hasn’t shopped for a television in a while, due to all the high tech features and numbers that tell you about the specifications. There are terms like interlaced scanning, compression methods, and bit rates, but all this only makes it harder to make decisions. You will do yourself a favor and simplify it all by figuring out what your type of TV viewing consists of.

There are basically two types of customers out there shopping for HDTV’s, which is similar to shopping for surround sound systems. There is the mostly casual consumer only listening to music and watching TV at the end of the day to find some relaxation. For those folks there is no need to learn about every term and specification on the equipment. The other set of consumer is into all those numbers and probably already knows them by heart just like the super audiophiles that can tell you every detail of a sound system.

If the casual consumer is your style you will have only two specifications on the new HDTV to give any attention to, the refresh rate and the resolution. If you don’t have special vision that allows you to see super detail then you won’t need to go crazy on the resolution number. Check this out by watching two HDTV’s side by side, one the higher end and one more moderate, then see if you really can tell any difference in the crispness of the video. And it’s really important to think whether you would truly notice these differences if you had one of these in your home.

Choosing a HDTV with a high refresh rate is what you are going to want to put your efforts into because this is something you can see, even a casual customer can. The refresh rate is how often per second a new image is presented and if that number is low you can actually tell that it looks a bit clunky. So even the casual consumer will want to find a HDTV with the highest refresh rate possible.

Unless you are seriously into home entertainment technology, you will probably find that there isn’t that much more that you really need to know on the technical side. Instead, focus of finding a well recommended HDTV with a high refresh rate and features that you will actually use, such as the ability to download streaming content from internet services like Netflix and Pandora.

LG 37LC7D 37-inch 720p LCD HDTV Review

We ordered the TV via Amazon and even though shipping would have been free, I paid a little extra to have it delivered in 3 days because I feared the longer it stayed in the shipping process, the better the chances of it being damaged.

Anyway, we are very happy with the TV. The distance from which you watch it is important. The best picture is from a distance of about 15′ away. Any closer, and the picture isn’t as great. But it’s hard to go back to regular TV once you’ve watched it in HD. I’m hopelessly spoiled!

The set up was EASY! I read reviews about how difficult it was to set it up, and that’s bogus. It was very easy. Given, I am electronically inclined, but I think my husband could have set it up easily and he’s a doof. Haha!

The sound is great too, especially for built in speakers.

I was scared to buy something this pricey online, because if something goes wrong, you’re kind of screwed. But the entire process from purchase to delivery was perfect. I do recommend reading up on sellers though, before you decide to go for it. Read other customer reviews on the seller!!! I changed my mind on a seller last minute and paid a little more for the TV just because I had a bad feeling.

  • LG Simplink allows for convient control of other LG Simplink products using the HDMI connection
  • LG’s Exclusive XD engine uses six distinct processes to improve brightness, contrast, detail, and enhances color
  • 2 HDMI/HDCP inputs 2 HD Component Video inputs Digital Optical Audio Output RGB input and Side mount AV Inputs with S-Video

LG 37LC7D 37-inch 720p LCD HDTV Overview

This 37″ LCD television with integrated HDTV has advanced true wide viewing angle with 8,000:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio and 1366 x 768p Resolution – even while viewing at the most extreme angles. Super IPS Technology reduces common distortion and blurring caused by fast motion video and also provides one of the industry’s widest viewing angles (178?).LG SimpLink allows for convenient control of other LG SimpLink products using the existing HDMI connection. Six distinct processes contribute to picture improvement. LG’s XD Engine takes the low resolution of analog signals to near HD levels by improving brightness, contrast, detail and enhancing color as well as reducing signal noise. This total solution results in cinema-like high-resolution images.

TV IS BAD; LG WILL NOT RESPOND TO PROBLEM – Bonster – Tulsa, OK
This TV was a gift for us in May of 2007, purchased from Magnolia Home Theater and the extended warranty was not purchased. The first problem it had required a factory modification 3 months after we received it. It stopped responding to the remote and the menus on the TV were impossible to use via the side buttons. The second problem showed up in early 2009, well beyond the 1-year warranty. It turned itself off unexpectedly. Repeatedly. The repair service was called and we spent almost 0.00 on repairs. The power supply was replaced in April, 2009. In June, 2009, it turned itself off again, unexpectedly. Of course the repair service would not back up their work. And LG refused to do anything. I am very disappointed in a company that will not replace a unit that is clearly defective in some way, warranty or not. That’s bad business and bad customer relations. I will not purchase an LG product again. Purchasing an extended warranty on a new product is ludicrous, has always been ludicrous. It only adds to the up-front cost and is merely a way for the seller to add to their profit, betting that MOST of the units they sell will not have problems. I believe it is a deceptive practice. Did I have a choice and could I have purchased an extended warranty? Yes, from the seller, but not from LG. It seems that’s the way companies do business these days: “just get it out the door, don’t worry about customer satisfaction when something goes wrong, especially if it’s only a low percentage of customers; the majority of people will never know that our products are duds and we won’t do anything to fix them.”

Great TV! – C. Mason – Texas, USA
I am not an expert in electronics so I will keep this short and sweet. This tv was just the right size for my needs, has an excellent picture (as far as my eyes are concerned) and the price was right!! I am pleased with the purchase.

disappointed – Enrique Valle –
the tv picture is horrible. watching a basketball game looks worse than any regular tv. i was going to return but upon reading the internet sites fine print. there is no returns on lcd tv’s. so i will have to take the hit. horrible lcd tv

Great set, shakey service – Spartan Child –
This TV has an amazing picture from every source that I have hooked up to it (Comcast HD, XBox 360, PS3 & Blu Ray). That’s the end of the good news.

The customer service folks from LG are not all that helpful and you’ll get transfered a few times before getting to the TV Warrany people. I spent 55 minutes on the phone during my last experience, the majority of that time was spent listening to elevator music, waiting to get an appointment with one of their authorized repair goons. My Amazing picture has been amazingly broken for 37 days now … they’ve made two attempts to fix it and both failed (well, actually, one succeeded for about 4 hours), the remainder of that 37 days has been spent waiting on backorder parts and rescheduling appointments.

Hopefully yours will not break down because LG, although they claim to be the greatest company since sliced peanut butter, do not blink at allowing a customer to sit with a broken product for over a month during the holidays. I purchased two LCD TV’s for Christmas and you can bet your sweet rear that they do not have an “LG” label on them.

Did I already mention that it looked great while it worked (almost a whole year).
